Diagnostic Imaging

We offer advanced diagnostic imaging services to provide thorough and precise assessments of your pet's health. Our facilities include both X-ray, Endoscopy and ultrasound technologies, enabling us to examine your pet's internal organs and structures with clarity and accuracy.

We offer a range of care for your pet, from routine check-ups to more in-depth tests or follow-ups. We use modern equipment to image your pet in a way that is comfortable and safe.

Endoscopy

Experience advanced veterinary care with our state-of-the-art endoscopy services. This minimally invasive procedure uses a tiny camera to examine your pet’s gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urinary tracts, allowing us to diagnose and treat conditions like inflammation, ulcers, and foreign object removal.

Benefits of Endoscopy:

  • Quick recovery time

  • Less stress and discomfort

  • Accurate diagnoses

X-Rays

Using digital radiography, we can capture detailed images of bones, joints, and soft tissues. X-rays are invaluable for diagnosing fractures, arthritis, identifying foreign objects and other soft tissue and skeletal abnormalities.

Ultrasound

Our ultrasound technology uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of your pet's organs such as the liver, kidneys, bladder, and more. This non-invasive technique helps us evaluate organ function and detect abnormalities without the need for exploratory  surgery.

MRI and CT

At The Vet House, we offer advanced MRI and CT imaging services through a trusted external provider. These state-of-the-art diagnostic tools allow us to accurately assess your pet's health and provide timely diagnoses.

MRI technology is ideal for diagnosing:

Neurological disorders: Brain and spinal cord issues. Musculoskeletal problems: Conditions like intervertebral disc disease.

CT scans are essential for:

Cancer staging: Determining tumor extent.                                  Joint disease evaluation: Detailed views of bone structures.

PennHip Technology

We offer PennHip technology to assess your dog's hip joint health. PennHip is a specialised method that provides valuable information about a dog's hip tightness or looseness, and therefore susceptibility to hip arthritis. Hip dysplasia is the most common orthopaedic condition in dogs and can be prevented by careful breeding programmes where PennHIP is used to select dogs to breed from.

What is PennHip?

PennHip (Pennsylvania Hip Improvement Program) is a technique used to evaluate hip joint laxity in dogs. It involves measuring the amount of hip joint laxity and comparing it to breed-specific standards. This assessment helps predict the likelihood of a dog developing hip arthritis later in life.

Why Choose PennHip?

  • Early detection: PennHip evaluations can identify hip joint laxity as early as 16 weeks of age, allowing for proactive management and intervention.

  • Accurate assessment: The PennHip method provides a more precise measurement of hip laxity compared to traditional hip scoring methods.

  • Guided breeding decisions: Results from PennHip evaluations can assist breeders in making informed decisions to reduce the incidence of hip dysplasia in future generations.

Gabe is trained and certified in performing PennHip evaluations with accuracy and care. We are committed to helping you understand your dog's hip health and providing recommendations for management and preventive care.

Laboratory Services

Our in-house laboratory is equipped to perform a range of tests, to help us make rapid informed decisions about your pet's health.  Our external lab provider provides a wide range of specialised tests including histology to examine tissue structure, hormonal blood tests, bacterial and fungal culture to name but a few.

Blood Tests

Blood tests are essential for assessing your pet's overall health and detecting a variety of conditions, such as infections, organ function abnormalities, and blood disorders. Our laboratory can perform complete blood counts (CBC), chemistry panels, thyroid tests, and more.

Urinalysis

Urinalysis helps evaluate kidney function, detect urinary tract infections, and identify other urinary system abnormalities. We analyse urine samples for parameters such as pH levels, protein, glucose, and presence of blood cells.

Other Lab Services

In addition to blood tests and urinalysis, other laboratory services include:

  • Skin and hair microscopy: Detecting external parasites and infections.

  • Cytology: Evaluating cells from lumps, skin lesions, or fluid samples for signs of disease.
